You moved into a place with a pre-existing security system
Sometimes when people buy a house, a home security system is already established. All the devices function well, are installed in the right places, and are ready to go. In this instance, you might find that you have to call and start a new contract. A Vivint expert will still come out to make sure there are no compatibility problems, and they could offer suggestions on upgrades. It's a preliminary visit, and you can get your 24/7 monitoring set up without paying for any new alarms and cameras -- unless you get some new devices.
The previous owners can transfer an existing Vivint contract to your family for a small transfer cost to make the process easier. If the previous owners downsize to an apartment or smaller home, turning over the home security contract may be an addendum of the sale.
You need to move and take your existing components with you
You might need to bring along your old smart devices with you to your new place when you move. Luckily, it's fairly simple to accomplish, as most smart devices are wireless. You can uninstall each alarm or camera by yourself or contact a professional expert to come and dismantle everything. Then our installers will hang the same features -- and any additions you need to have -- in the new home. Your home security contract will remain the same.
